Four Races on the Thursday Card at Southland Greyhound Park, 09.16.15

southland parkGood day and thanks for checking in on this blog entry. In this article, I will be offering some quick thoughts and ideas on four races taking place on Thursday’s card from Southland Greyhound Park.

The races will be taking place over Southland’s 583-yard course and the 660-yard course.

Race #4 – Two greyhounds (#1 CBJ Tricks and #8 T’s Spectraflame) who have good early speed and are well posted will be my key greyhounds in this race. I will be using the #5 Thrill Deal and the #6 Game Token with Tricks and Spectraflame in quinielas and box exactas.

Race #6 – After two races where he drew poor post positions, the #1 White Night will be wearing his favorite red blanket in this race. The last two times this white and red male has drawn inside post positions, he has won both of his Grade AA races. I will be keying Night with the #4 Natural High, #5 CBJ Kitkat, and the #7 Mega Rice in all exotic wagers.

Finale Stakes Second Round – Four Races on the Saturday Card at Bluffs Run Greyhound Park, 09.11.15

Jason Gill is our new resident greyhound handicapping expert. Jason has been attending and wagering on greyhound races since 1980. A third-generation greyhound racing fan, Jason taught many handicapping classes and seminars at the now defunct Multnomah Greyhound Park outside of Portland Oregon.

Good day and thanks for checking in on this blog entry. In this article, I will be offering some quick thoughts and ideas on four races taking place at Bluffs Run Greyhound Park.

All four races will be second-round races in the $60,000 Finale Stakes – they will be run over the 550-yard course.

Race #1 – This second round race will feature one of the best greyhounds in the country in #6 Boc’s Tony Romo. The inside part of the track should be open for his tremendous late kick. I will be using the #1 Illuminate and the #7 Barts Bold Ruler with Tony Romo in quinielas and box exactas.

Race #2 – I will be keying off the #8 XKT Jim Thurber in this contest. Thurber appears to be very well posted as the #6 Lahaina wants inside and the #7 Dutch Connor has no early speed and appears to be outclassed. I will use the #2 O Ya Spunky, the #3 JD Iconic and the #6 Lahaina with the eight in quinielas.

Bluff’s Run Open Final – Race 4, Wednesday card at Bluffs Run Greyhound Park, 08.18.15

Good day and thanks for checking in on my blog. In this entry we will be taking an in-depth look at the fourth race on Wednesday’s Bluffs Run Program.

This race will be contested over the Bluffs Run 550-Yard Course and feature one of the best greyhounds in the country in Boc’s Hank Jr.

bluff world herald#1 XKT Jim Thurber – This greyhound has been very consistent as of late. This son of Djays Octane and Gable Gulp has “hit the pay sheet” in his last eight outings. In his last outing, this red male overcame trouble at the start and in the escape turn to finish a hard charging third. Thurber should like the inside post he draws today.

#2 Helpme Helpyou – Here is a greyhound who will need a form reversal in order to be competitive in today’s feature race. After being away from the races for two months, this son of Djays Octane and Ocean Avenue encountered traffic in the first few yards of his comeback race and was never a factor. Helpme will need a sharp break today in order to reverse his racing fortunes today.

#3 Fremont County – This is a talented young greyhound who has a very bright future. In his first career Grade A start, this 70-pounder broke a step slow, was forced wide in the first turn, and was never a factor. if this red male can show more early speed today, he could easily “hit the board”.

Bluff’s Run Open Final – Race 12, Saturday card at Bluffs Run Greyhound Park, 07.31.15

bluffs runGood day and thanks for checking in on my blog. In this entry we will be taking an in-depth look at the Bluffs Run Open Final, the 12th race on the Saturday program from Bluffs Run Greyhound Park.

This race will be contested over the 550-Yard Course. Eight of the fastest greyhounds in the country will be competing for the winner’s share of the $60,000 purse.

#1 Boc’s Tony Romo – This greyhound comes into this race on a tremendous form spree. In his four qualification races, this son of Flying Penske and Boc’s Slim N Fit chalked up three wins and a second place finish. This 71-pounder has some of the best late speed in the entire country. If he can avoid trouble in the first turn, he will be very tough to keep “off the board”

#2 Boc’s Sailfish – This is a greyhound who has been using his fantastic box speed to immediately open up leads in his last couple of races. A stakes winner earlier in the year at Bluffs, this son of Djays Octane and Boc’s Mc Raisen could help out Tony Romo by going wide out of the box and in the escape turn. A must use on trifecta and superfecta tickets.

The 12th race, Saturday at Wheeling Island, 07.23.15

wheelingGood day and thanks for checking in on my blog. In this entry we will be taking an in-depth look at the 12th race from this Saturday’s Wheeling Evening card.

This race is a Grade AA race and will be contested over Wheeling’s 548-yard course.

#1 Varoom Esme – This greyhound comes into this race in very strong form. After competing in stakes races, this brindle female has chalked up a win and a second in her last two starts. In her last race, Varoom broke sharp, went right to the front, and drew away to an impressive six length tally. The winning time was a scorching 29.08 seconds. This will be my “key” greyhound.

#2 Gez Sweet – Sweet is another greyhound in decent form. In her last three races, this 60 pounder has recorded a win and two third place finishes. In her last race, this daughter of Gable Dodge and Tovi The Proud broke very sharply and overcame a little traffic coming out of the first turn to run a decent third. Sweet has never run in the quiniela in a Grade AA race.

#3 WW’s Gustava – This greyhound (along with Varoom Esme and PJ Pure Gold) is one of three greyhounds who come into this race off a win at the Grade AA level. In that race on July 18, this son of Kiowa WW Brother and WW Cava broke well, cleared on the lead, and was never challenged. Will need a similar effort to spring another mild upset.

The 2015 Southland Derby Final – 11th race, Friday Night, at Southland Greyhound Park, 07.02.15

Jason Gill is our new resident greyhound handicapping expert. Jason has been attending and wagering on greyhound races since 1980. A third-generation greyhound racing fan, Jason taught many handicapping classes and seminars at the now defunct Multnomah Greyhound Park outside of Portland Oregon.

southland parkGood day and thanks for checking in on my blog. In this entry we will be taking an in-depth look at the Southland Derby final, the 11th race on the Friday Night program from Southland Greyhound Park.

This race is one of the premier greyhound races in the country – the final of the $60,000 Southland Derby contested over their 583-yard course. Eight of the finest greyhounds in the country will go to post looking to take home the winner’s share of one of the richest greyhound races in America.

#1 Dark N Demure – This greyhound enters the finals on an absolute form spree. In her four qualification races, this daughter of Kiowa WW Brother and Super C Arias rang up two wins and two second place finishes. Because she is a wide runner, this 58-pounder must break very sharply and secure a good running position to the escape turn. Drawing the coveted red blanket is rarely a bad thing in a stakes final. Demure runs for the Lester Raines Kennel.

#2 – CBJ Butterfinger – This greyhound will need a minor form reversal this evening to pull off the upset. After posting victories in rounds two and three of the qualification races, this daughter of Gable Sour Cream and CBJ Jordy Brown ran a dismal last in her last qualification race. If Butterfinger is going to pull the upset, she will have to break cleanly and clear the #1 greyhound in the early stages of the race. Butterfinger races for the Mike Harris Kennel.

#3 – Mega Umberto – In my opinion, this is the “wild card” greyhound in the race. After showing good early speed in a couple of his qualification races, this son of Kiowa Mon Manny and Kiowa Cry Pike showed good late speed to overcome a very tardy start and finish third in his last race. Umberto is a talented greyhound who is a must use on all trifecta and superfecta tickets. Umberto competes for the David Blair Kennel.
