    Big Hambo Day For Great Scott

    For Scott Zeron, Hambletonian Day might just have been the best one he’s ever had.

    The 27-year-old driver guided Marion Marauder to victory in the 91st Hambletonian for 3-year-old trotters Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands before a crowd of 20,122.

    The winner came first over to grab the lead in the stretch before holding off the late charge of 2-1 second choice Southwind Frank to win by a nose in 1:51.4.

    “The Greatest Party in Harness Racing” will begin at a special early post time of 6:30 p.m.

    The Pace has been drawn and a competitive group of 10 top sophomores led by Racing Hill and Control The Moment will battle for $732,050 and the trophy.

    North America Cup attracts 18 entrants at Mohawk

    CAMPBELLVILLE, June 7 – The finest three-year-old pacers in harness racing will go postward Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack in two eliminations for the 33rd Pepsi North America Cup.

    A total of 18 three-year-old pacing colts and geldings have been split into a pair of $50,000 eliminations. The top five finishers from each nine-horse elimination will advance to the $1 million Pepsi North America Cup final on Saturday, June 18.
