Vincennes Racecourse

Vincennes Racecourse is a horse-racing track in Paris, France. It opened in 1863, at the Rte de la Ferme.

History of Vincennes Racecourse

1863 – Vincennes Racecourse was inaugurated on March 23, 1863, on the site of the former Imperial Farm.
1870s – The racecourse was damaged during the Franco-Prussian War.
1879 – Vincennes was rebuilt and reopened after the war.
1906 – The creation of the winter meeting helped establish Vincennes as a major seasonal center for trotting.
1919 – After World War I, racing resumed at Vincennes, and plans developed for a major international trotting event.
1920 – Vincennes hosted the first edition of the Prix d’Amérique, which later became one of the most famous harness races in the world.
1934 – The final steeplechase race was held at Vincennes on November 26, 1934. After that, the venue became fully focused on trotting.
1952 – Night racing began at Vincennes, giving the racecourse another signature feature.
1983 – The racecourse entered a modern era with improved grandstands and upgraded public areas designed for major racing crowds.
1993 – The main track was modernized with banked turns, helping create a faster and more demanding racing surface.

It is a 42-hectare racetrack with an exterior 2,000 m track. The clubhouse and grandstands can accommodate up to 60,000 people. It also has an infield area for parking and other spectators, while there are 150 boxes for the trotters. They also have three catering points and a bar, a 3,000 m² lobby, and a gigantic 160 m² screen. It plays host to most big French races and international horse events, like the Grand Prix d’Amérique. The restaurant has a panoramic view of the entire course that has 1,800 seating.
