AmWager’s ELO MMR system builds on the classic Elo model and extends it using multiplayer MMR frameworks like Glickman’s and Simple MMR and SME Simple Multipayer Elo. It applies key principles these models directly to Thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing.
Each runner, jockey, trainer, owner, and track starts with a baseline rating (1200). After each day’s races, we adjust all ratings based solely on win/loss outcomes. The system applies probability-based updates across all participants: wins against higher-rated entrants earn bigger rating gains, while losses to lower-rated ones cause bigger drops. Because it updates daily across all races, the leaderboard stays sharply tuned to actual performance.
