Hippodrome de Cherbourg-en-Cotentin is a horse-racing track in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, Manche, France. It opened in 1836, at 3268 Les Rouges Terres.

History

It is also known as La Glacerie with its inaugural two-day trotting meeting on September 25-26, 1836. It is located at La Glacerie 50470 Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, in Manche, and also on the grounds of the Marine artillery polygon, between Cherbourg and Tourlaville, on the Collignon beach. It is also the oldest company of trotting races in France, created in 1836, then chaired by the Vicomte de Tocqueville.

Track Details

The racecourse has a 1200 meter track with 24 meters width and a 280 meter straight, with rope on the left. Its turns are raised to 4%. Four starting posts are possible 2000 m (volté and autostart start), 2550 m (autostart), 2600 m, and 3200 m. The racecourse also has an indoor track with a panoramic gourmet restaurant “Le Grilladin” (2nd floor) and a bar (1st floor).
There are 41 boxes and 12 stalls available for hire. Moreover, pets are also allowed, has a play area and coach Parking. The entrance fee costs €4 but is free for 18 years old and below.
