Hippodrome de la Teste de Buch
Hippodrome de la Teste de Buch is a horse-racing track in La Teste-de-Buch, France. It opened in 1903, at route de Cazaux.
History
It is located at 785 route de Cazaux 33260 LA TESTE-DE-BUCH, in the heart of an 80-hectare natural jewel of greenery in the shade of pine trees, near beaches of the Arcachon Basin and the Dune du Pilat, in the coastal area of the Southwest of France.
The track held its inaugural meeting in 1903, managed by the Société des Courses de la Teste. It is one of the oldest racing societies in the Southwest, one of the four most beautiful in France, and a regional racecourse classified as a 1st category pole, organizing gallop races exclusively (flat races and hurdles races). In 2011, 138 new transit boxes were inaugurated, including a clubhouse. After two years, in 2013, the track established more spacious stands that meet the requirements of the public and professionals. In the following year (2014), a new training center was opened.
Track Details
It hosts 18 televised race meetings per year from March to September. The site offers two flat grass tracks and a nearly two-kilometer hedge track. A 2050 meter with 25-meter-wide grass flat rope track on the right, and a flat grass track of 1860 meters and 14 meters wide on average for training in real conditions. The hedge track is 1950 meters with seven hurdles, 14 meters wide, and rope on the right.
In addition, it also has a training center, 138 transit boxes, 600-seat grandstands established in 2013, a panoramic restaurant named “Le Fer à Cheval” with 120 seats, and a prestigious reception room named “Le Salon du Champ de Courses”.
