Northville Downs

Northville Downs is a horse-racing track in Northville, Michigan, United States. It opened in 1944, at South Center Street.

History

In 1944, the half-mile oval of the Northville Downs (301 South Center Street Northville, MI 48167) was opened and became the first horse track in Michigan that offers sustained pari-mutuel betting. It was also when the first nighttime harness race track happened. It was also the center of horse breeding in the state. Then in 2013, the track was denied a thoroughbred license, but in 2014, live thoroughbred racing returned.

By 2018, the President and CEO of Hunter Pasteur Homes, Randy Wertheimer, announced that they purchased the track and redeveloped it into apartments and homes. Even so, the Northville Downs is still actively pursuing the continuation of its horse racing and wagering operations at an area in close proximity to its current location.
