Truro Raceway

Truro Raceway is a horse-racing track in Colchester County in Truro, Canada. opened in 1865 at 73 Ryland Avenue.

History

It is located in Colchester County in Truro, specifically at the 73 Ryland Avenue Truro, Nova Scotia B2N 5C5 Canada, which opened in 1865.  It is one of the oldest racetracks in Canada and Nova Scotia’s largest harness racing track. However, the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Commission (NSPEC) no longer owns or is associated with the Truro Raceway. It is also the home to the former Nova Scotia Hall of Fame Equine “Somebeachsomewhere”. 

Track Details

Its half-mile track features live Harness Racing April through December and host Simulcast Racing at Truro Raceway in Truro, NS, and Brewsters Bar & Grill in Bedford, NS. The stretch width is 70 feet, while the length of the home stretch is 440 feet. The track can also be transformed into a concert venue accommodating 20 000 people at music events for many years. The Grandstand features stadium seating, a canteen, the Trackside Lounge, and the Top of the Turn Diner, with a seating capacity of 1800, while the clubhouse can accommodate 160 seating. Moreover, the 65-acre facility features a farm equipment museum, 4H barn, equestrian centers, winter storage, and event space suited for large events requiring separate venues, including sporting events, agricultural shows, conventions, trade shows, fairs, auctions, and markets. The stables can house more than 200 horses on the grounds.
