Noble Confessor at the rail and has the early speed to get the lead, and he gets blinkers on. He is one of trainer Pletcher’s big stakes types. Noble Confessor was entered in his first turf try, even though a maiden, in the Pilgrim Stakes (November 2024), and was second by a neck. He has not progressed since the Pilgrim until winning his maiden in July. That earned a career-best Equibase Speed Figure (101), leading wire-to-wire, at a similar distance as this race. He finished second in the Jockey Derby Invitation Stakes, his last race earned a 110 figure. With first blinkers and at the rail, Noble Confessor has a shot to lead wire-to-wire as he did in July, getting his first stakes win.

Thundering and Soleil Volant finished second and first by a nose, respectively, in the Kent Stakes on September 25. Both were at their career-best Equibase Speed Figures of 97 at the nine-furlong distance of this race. Both Thundering and Soleil Volant can improve and have shots to win.

Mayor Midnight ran his career-best figure of 102 on September 19 at 11 furlongs. He exploded from fifth in the first eighth to win. Brown moves his horse to a better race here. The only time Prat rode Mayor Midnight, he helped him win his first race. Prat gets back on the horse for this race.

I believe Ourdaydreaminggirl could win, and if she doesn’t win, she has a high probability of finishing in second or third. Ourdaydreaminggirl came in third by a neck and a head in the Grade 1 Cotillion on September 20. The two top fillies in the Cotillion, Clicquot and Dry Powder, ran in the Breeders’ Distaff last month, and even though they didn’t run well, for Ourdaydreaminggirl to be neck and neck with the top two fillies makes her the best to win in this nine-horse field. Ourdaydreaminggirl ran a career-best Equibase Speed Figure, 106, which is better than five lengths based on the faster Equibase calculations; no other in this field has figures less than 99. In ’24 Cotillion, Tarifa finished third before winning the Mother Goose, so Ourdaydreaminggirl has a shot, bet her to win, and keep her in exacta and trifecta wagers.

Top Win Contenders: Immensitude, Beach Bomb, Alluring Angel, No Show Sammy Jo

Immensitude had the best early pace on October 2 in an easy wire-to-wire, earning a 94 Equibase Speed Figure. In 2024, Long Island finished third, starting from eighth, and earned a 101 Equibase Speed Figure. Before the Long Island Stakes, Immensitude was beaten by a neck in the 2024 Waya Stakes, with a 104 figure, also at the same 11-furlong distance. Last month’s race was even stronger, so she has a big shot.

Beach Bomb and Alluring Angel finished second and third, respectively, a neck from the winner, in the Waya on October 5. Both earned career-best figures of 111 and 110, and the best figures earned by anyone in the Long Island field. Both mares are capable of winning in this race if they run the same quality race they ran last month.

No Show Sammy Jo ran her best race on September 12 and is in top form. She finished rallying from 10th at a half mile, second by a nose in 2024 Long Island with her career-best 107 figure, rallying from 10th at a half mile, as the 8 to 5 favorite.
Jockey Ruiz rode to win three times in three tries, including her previous race, making her another contender.
