Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course is a Racino (horse-racing track and casino) in Grantville, Pennsylvania, United States. It opened in 1972, at Hollywood Blvd.
History of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course
1972 – Penn National Race Course, a thoroughbred horse racing track and casino, opened on August 30, 1972. It is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Penn National Gaming.
1983 – Penn National had been the brainchild of several civic leaders from Central Pennsylvania who established the track very early, with 100 racing dates in the first year alone. Moreover, Penn was also instrumental in the invention of telephone betting.
2008 – Hollywood Casino opened at Penn National on February 12, 2008.
2010 – Table games commenced operating at the Hollywood Casino on July 13, 2010. As of July, it has over 2,480 slot machines and 54 tables.
2011 – The track officially started to offer evening racing on Monday and Tuesday nights, which made it one of the few Thoroughbred tracks to offer live racing on these days.
2013 – The Penn Mile Stakes on turf inaugurated.
2018 – The two-days test for sports betting at Hollywood Casino started on November 15, 2018, while official sports betting commenced on November 17, 2018. It was the first casino to offer sports betting in Pennsylvania.
