Iowa Greyhound Park – Dubuque Mat & Eve is a former greyhound track in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It opened in 1985, at Greyhound Park Dr.
History of Iowa Greyhound Park
1985 – On June 1, 1985, Iowa Greyhound Park opened as the first pari-mutuel racetrack in the country, a non-profit. It is also considered one of Iowa’s premier dog tracks, which features live greyhound racing and simulcasting from both greyhound and horse tracks across the country. Moreover, for the last 20-plus years, after their greyhounds reached the limit of physical fitness capable of racing, they let it be adopted. The facility also supports its own adoption center and is open during live race days. Greyhound racing is regulated by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, which administers pari-mutuel wagering rules. The season runs from May through October.
2020 – Florida voters decided to close all the state’s dog tracks.
2022 – The last Iowa Greyhound live racing was on May 15, 2022. It is now permanently closed.
Facilities
The patron capacity is 400 inside the grandstand, along with outdoor seating. The track also has free Wi-Fi, on-Site Parking, and a public restroom.
