Less Is More

Two-year-old stakes at Saratoga are some of the most fun races to watch and the toughest to handicap. Often you have horses who have made only one or two starts, and at times many of them have won them. I like these types of races. They offer less information which forces you to pull from experience and memory and your gut instincts to decide. You can separate the men from the boys, so to speak, and maybe find an edge. Race 8 at Saratoga - Post Time 5:03 PM Eastern Ten for Ten, Speaker’s Corner, Ducale and the entry of Mahaamel & Ashiham are the win contenders. This seven furlong first level allowance race features a field of nine, with some exceptionally bred and lightly rated three year olds making up the bulk of the field, some which will be stakes winners before too long. Maxfield will garner his share of support, but as post time nears, I think the money will go towards the speed of Knicks Go, who should be able to clear this field into the first turn barring any suicide missions. By My Standards is a lovely horse and [...]

Key Horse Races & Expert Handicapper Bets – August 7, 2021

Glens Falls Stakes - Race 7 at Saratoga - Post Time 3:58 PM Eastern Luck Money, Call Me Love, War Like Goddess and Dalika are the win contenders. Temple City Terror should be considered for exacta and trifecta tickets. Luck Money just finished second, beaten a length, in a nearly identical stakes race run at a marathon distance. Fifth early and 13 lengths behind the leader, Luck Money surged to second, only a length back with an eighth of a mile to go but could not go by Dalika, who had pressed then led [...]
